Because a big part of our ministry occurs in Thailand, regular mission trips are important for oversight of our funds and relationship building with our ministry partners there. This year, we have already sent two separate teams.
On January 2, 2024 The Ivy Table embarked on our first organized missions trip to the country of Thailand with a group of 10 people. The first half of the trip was spent in Mae Sot (northern Thailand) working with refugee students, most who have been orphaned or separated from their parents as a result of the war in Myanmar (Burma). The second half of the trip was spent in Pattaya (central Thailand) working with children and families who live in the poorest areas of the slums. While there, we hosted free food distributions, community dinners, and engaging in building projects. In a country that is 95% Buddhist and less than 2% Christian, we held an overnight VBS style english retreat for local students and gave the morning message at a church in the slums.
On May 21, 2024 we sent another team of 7 people to that country. In addition to food distributions and community dinners, we did painting projects at two separate locations, teacher enrichment events, and provided support to the organizations we support there.
